All workshops are facilitated by people with lived experience.<\/p>\n<h3>Workshops<\/h3>\n<h5>Exploring class, power and privilege in relation to hearing voices and the Hearing Voices Movement.<\/h5>\n<p>What do we mean when we talk about \u2018class\u2019 both in a historical context and current context? How<br \/>\ndo experiences of power, powerlessness and privilege relate to the experience of hearing voices?<br \/>\nIn this interactive workshop participants will have the opportunity to reflect on what these terms<br \/>\nmean to them as an individual and how power has shaped their experiences of hearing voices, using<br \/>\nmental health services, participating in hearing voices groups and working with people who have<br \/>\nunusual sensory experiences.<br \/>\n<strong>Aimed at:<\/strong> People with lived experience, carers, supporters and professionals.<\/p>\n<h5>Is the hearing voices approach compatible with statutory services?<\/h5>\n<p>Hearing voices groups are increasingly common on mental health wards and in community mental<br \/>\nhealth services in the UK, but can the hearing voices philosophy fit within statutory services?<br \/>\nThis workshop will give an introduction to the hearing voices approach, think about the medical<br \/>\nparadigm of statutory services, and discuss how we can balance the priorities of statutory and<br \/>\nvoluntary mental health services with the ethos of the hearing voices movement.<br \/>\n<strong>Aimed at:<\/strong> People with lived experience, carers, supporters, and professionals facilitating or<br \/>\nconsidering starting a hearing voices group.<\/p>\n<h3>Presentations<\/h3>\n<p>Is the hearing voices approach compatible with statutory services?<br \/>\n<em>The 10th Hearing Voices Congress, September 2018, The Hague<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Callers&#8217; Voices<br \/>\n<em>London Regional Samaritans Conference, March 2019, <span class=\"st\">Hertfordshir<\/span>e<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Community Hearing Voices Groups<br \/>\n<em>London Hearing Voices Network, June 2019, London<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;ve had the opportunity to both present and run workshops at some wonderful events.
